His Family

Mathei's family included his little brother and sister, and his mom and dad. When the war started, he was separated from them, when his brother and himself had to leave the house to protect themselves from an aktzia. (I might have spelled that word wrong, and if so I'll correct it later.)
During the war, his father was killed in Auschvitz. (Might be spelled wrong also.) The rest of his family survived, but he didn't see them again until they joined him in Israel, about 30 years after the war.

WORDS OF THE DAY- Aktzia- An attack on a certain group of people, like little boys, or old women, etc. During WORLD WAR II.
Auschvitz- A concentration camp (killing camp) in Poland that is famous for how badly it treated the Jews.
